Case Study: Barnsbury Place, London

Barnsbury Place is a prestigious collection of nine new houses, 15 new build and 80 refurbished apartments in one of Islington's most desirable quarters. The project required a system design that met the stringent requirements of the client (consistent 22°C room temperature with outside temperature of -4°C) but also had to be simple enough to install in record time. The contractor had never installed any ufh before so they must be trained on site. To remain on-schedule, we had to design, price and supply the systems for one floor at a time (ten two bedroom flats) within a week of receiving initial plans.

Bowmite had successfully tendered for the project including an in screed under floor heating system as a primary heat source. Within a week of receiving intial plans, the system design was supplied and the objective defined. They were steered away from in screed heating to foil heaters. The floor finishes were laminate and carpet, so the inclusion of heat pak on the carpeted areas meant that the same system could be used throughout.
