Mat System Heating Capabilities

Before fitting Warmup Underfloor Heating Mat, there are several considerations you must bear in mind with regards to heat:
Will the underfloor heater be the main heat source in the room? Are you aware of how much time your floor will take to heat up? Have you checked out the running costs/power consumption?

Heating Capabilities

Warmup Underfloor Heating Mats can be used as the only heat source in rooms that comply with insulation levels set out in current building regulations and where 100% of the floor area is covered by the heating system.
In rooms (such as bathrooms or kitchens) where the entire floor is not covered, or in rooms where the heat loss is very high (such as conservatories), additional heating may need to be installed.
A heat loss calculation should be preformed to determine exactly the amount of heat required to heat the room. Then, by measuring the area to be heated and using the table below and the pricelist, you can calculate whether additional heating is required.

Heat-up Times

Heat-up times depend on such variables as the thickness of the tiles and the design of the subfloor.

LAYOUT:

The Warmup Underfloor Heating Mat is most suitable for larger regular shaped areas. The Warmup Installation Manual provides a useful guide to heater layout, though it may be necessary to alter this slightly to suit your particular installation.
To work out what Mats you need, work out the area of the room less any floor area for permanent fixtures such as bathtubs, cupboards, etc. Then take 10% off the area and find the corresponding mat combination that fits that area. Multiple Underfloor Heating Mats

Before installing, ensure you have the correct number and size of heaters for the area you wish to heat. For the 150W heaters the maximum area you may wire is 24m² (1 x PFM15 and 1 x PFM9), for the 200W mats the maximum area is 18m² (1 x 2WPFM10 + 1 x 2WPFM8). When laying more than one mat it is important to remember the following: The mats are joined in parallel only at the thermostat or in a junction box. DO NOT attach one mat to another in series. The heating wires of the mat may never be shortened or cut. Never leave any surplus mat rolled up underneath the flooring.
If the area to be heated exceeds 22m², then you must install Warmup Underfloor Heating Mat using multiple thermostats.
