The Challenge
Sugar House Island is a new landmark development built in an area of east London known for its industrial heritage. Comprising of over 1,200 homes across a four-phase project, Warmup worked with the client to install an efficient floor heating solution for the first phase of the development and have been specified to work on the remaining phases.
The Solution
With such a large area to heat, a low-profile hydronic system was decided upon to provide effective and reliable heating. We focused on two separate systems in the planning stages, the Tectora and Econna, as the architect was considering two different floor build-ups. Once the build-up was confirmed as a joisted batten system, the Projects Division developed the best solution, which was drawn up by our inhouse CAD team, and the Tectora System was selected as it was the ideal system to meet the exacting criteria for the project’s needs. The Tectora uses our PEX-A Heating Pipe, which is covered by a lifetime warranty and the system was coupled with our S3 manifold, one of the highest performing manifolds on the market. Finally, Warmup 4iE Smart Wifi Thermostats were specified to provide accurate heating control throughout.
The Result
Warmup designed, supplied, installed and commissioned a water underfloor heating system in this large-scale residential development that will bring energy-efficient warmth to thousands of people for many years to come.
