Where Can Insulation Boards Be Used?

Insulation boards are suitable for installation on both floors and walls, making them a versatile solution for underfloor heating projects and tiled surfaces.

When used as a floor tile backer board, they provide a strong, stable base capable of supporting heavy loads while improving the efficiency of underfloor heating by reducing heat loss into the subfloor. They also offer sound insulation benefits, helping to reduce the transmission of impact noise between floors. For most installations, a minimum thickness of 6 mm is recommended over concrete subfloors, while timber subfloors typically require boards of at least 10 mm to provide additional stability.

On walls, insulation boards act as an effective tile backer, allowing ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tiles to be fixed directly to the surface without extensive preparation. Once the joints have been correctly sealed, the system forms a waterproof surface, making it well suited for bathrooms, shower rooms, wet rooms, kitchens, and other areas exposed to moisture.
