What Does Heater Error mean on the 3iE thermostat?
There are a number of reasons why the “Heater error” message is displayed:
- A contactor (external relay ) has been fitted
The thermostat will display this error as the current sensor cannot detect a heater(s). The 3iE will still operate as normal but will constantly display the error.
- The 3iE has been wired up incorrectly
An electrician will need to check that the underfloor heating system has been wired into the correct terminals on the back of the 3iE.
- There is a fault with the underfloor heating system
If the electrician has confirmed that the system has been wired up correctly, have them test the resistance of your heating system. The resistance reading is based on the heater model installed in your floor using a digital multi meter set to a 200 ohms scale.
Additionally you can try to reset the thermostat by loosening the two screws on the bottom and pulling the face of the thermostat unit off. Then, using a small screw driver or other pointed object, you can press the reset button on the back of the face. Once you have pressed the reset button, you can put the face of the unit back on and tighten the screws.
