What is underfloor heating?

The easiest way to understand underfloor heating is to grasp the sensation of warmth on your body from the sun on an extremely cold day when the air temperature is clearly below freezing, with snow and ice on the ground.

However, once you step out of the sun, the feeling of warmth diminishes, and the predominant sensation becomes the freezing air temperature.

Underfloor heating warms a home or building through the emission of radiant heat from a warm element or water pipe in the floor. It primarily warms dense objects, such as people and objects, starting from the floor and moving upwards. The internal air temperature in a building heated with underfloor heating may be significantly lower than in a building heated with convected air, while still achieving the same level of body comfort.
