Can I Use One Thermostat If the Total Load Exceeds 16 Amps?
Yes. A single thermostat can still be used to control an underfloor heating system with a total electrical load greater than 16 amps, provided the installation includes a suitable contactor or relay to handle the additional load.
In this type of installation, the thermostat acts as the control device while the contactor switches the higher electrical current required by the heating system.
Systems with a total load above the thermostat’s rated capacity should always be designed and installed by a qualified electrician to ensure safe operation and compliance with local electrical standards.
